Mary Elizabeth Hicks

Mary was Born on February 16, 1938, to Art and Bernice Hamilton. Mary was a resident of McPhee and Cortez, Colorado for 87 years, she passed away April 13, 2025.

She attended Cortez High School where she meets her husband, Melvin Hicks. Mary and Melvin married in 1958. Mary worked at First National Bank for years and then retired from Vectra Bank. Mary continued to help with the business, Cortez Glass after retirement by doing the books for the business.

During their spare time Mary and her husband would spend time tending the cattle on their ranch and traveling when they could. Mary and Melvin loved being outside. They spent many weekends in the mountains four wheeling with family and were always spending time trail riding with friends.

Mary is survived by her niece and two nephews: Kendall Allen (Stacy) of Dolores, CO., Rusty Hamilton (Kim) of Dolores, CO. and Brent Hamilton of Aztec N.M. and her great nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Hicks, parents Art and Berniece Hamilton, brother Oscar Hamilton and sister Gloria Hall.

Mary “Sissy” will forever be loved and missed by all who loved her.
