MARY FERN ISMAY Funeral services for lifelong area resident Mary Fern Ismay will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Summit Ridge Cemetery. Reverend Bud Rousset will officiate. A Rosary service will be held Monday evening at 6 p.m. at Ertel Chapel. Mary was born February 24, 1925 in Cortez the daughter of William and Willie (Meadows) Baer. She passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at her Dolores home at the age of 86. In 1945, Mary wed Joe H. Ismay in Aztec, N.M. The couple shared 58 years of marriage before Joe's death in 2003. Mary was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dolores. In her free time, Mary enjoyed time spent working in her garden, sewing for her family, crocheting, and embroidering. She could grow beautiful roses that were enjoyed by many. Mary received much happiness from her grandchildren, they all held a special place in her heart. Surviving Mary are her children, Norm Ismay and wife, Barbara of Newell, S.D., John Ismay and wife, Bonnie of Sturgis, S.D., Jane Curtis and husband, Bill of Sinclair, Wyo., Sherril Ismay of Denver, Colo., Ron Ismay and wife, Debbie of Windsor, Colo., Brent Ismay and wife, Sandy of Pensacola, Fla., and Joanne Bangs and husband, Dan of Pleasant View, Colo. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Betty James of Dolores, Lorna Butler of Summit Ridge, Myrna Palmer of Cortez, and William Baer and wife, Thais of Walla Walla, Wash. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and by her husband, Joe Ismay.
