Mary Ellen Ekstrom

Mary Ellen Rapp Ekstrom passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020 after a courageous 18 month battle with Bulbar Onset ALS. She was born December 15, 1950 in McKees Rocks, PA the daughter of Earl Ralph and Mary Elizabeth (Recka) Rapp.
Mary Ellen was a kind and sweet person who was adored by all who knew her. She spent her childhood in Oakdale, PA. Prior to moving to Cortez 11 years ago, she worked at the Motion Picture Retirement Home in Los Angeles, CA. She retired from Community Connections in Cortez, CO.
Mary Ellen is survived by her devoted husband, Jon Ekstrom; her beloved daughter, Jennifer Zurick; her cherished granddaughters, Isabella (Izzy) and Jaya Witte; her step-daughters, Alan Ekstrom and Kara Ekstrom; her step-grandchildren, Nevayah and Jaxon; her sisters, Florence Mehalic, Katherine Witzberger and Nancy Beaumont, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Mary Rapp.

A memorial service will be held in the spring.
