MARY ELIZABETH LEWIS Memorial services for Mary Elizabeth Lewis will be held at Noon, Friday, June 29 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Mary Elizabeth Lewis was born on March 26, 1917 in Olathe, Colo., the daughter of Christian and Rozina Morlang. She passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 89. Mary’s passion in life was fishing. She spent a lot of wonderful time fishing at Groundhog or Miramonte Reservoirs. Surviving Mary are her children, Harold James Bowen of Cortez, Anna Irene Cox of Montrose, Colo., Sharon Kay Lopez and husband, Richard of Claremont, Calif., Shelby Dean Bowen and Charles P. Lewis, both of Cortez; her sister, Esther Staats of Grand Junction, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Harold Thomas Bowen and Charles Edgar Lewis; her son, John Lowell Bowen; and her siblings, George, Alex, Philip, Jake, Fred, and Chris Morlang, Anna Snyder, and Christine Alexander. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service for Mary will be held later this spring.
