MARWIN RAY LANER Services for Towaoc resident, Marwin Ray Laner will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Towaoc Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Monday evening from 3 to 7 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Marwin was born on July 24, 1970 in Cortez to Ray Laner and Rosella Wall Badback. He passed away on Tuesday, November 22 in Cortez at the age of 35. An active person, Marwin enjoyed hunting, fishing, swimming and playing basketball as well as other games. He enjoyed time spent with his nieces and nephews and his special dog, Snaps. During his high school years Marwin was a member of the M-CHS wrestling team and competed in State Finals. He was a firefighter for the BIA and had worked seismography for the Ute Tribe. Surviving Marwin are his grandmother, Pearl Laner of Towaoc; his son, Marwin Ray Laner Jr. of Modesto, Calif.; close companion, Lena Sanchez; sisters, Ericka Cuthair and husband, George of Towaoc, Zelda Wilson and husband, Steve of Towaoc, and Yvette Cuthair of Las Vegas, Nev. Also surviving Marwin are his nephews, Gregorio Gachupin, Romero Gachupin, Tyler Jacket, Owen Hooten and Mannie Wall; niece, Angel Lopez as well as numerous others; Angela Badback who was like a mother to Marwin; and a large extended family. Preceding Marwin in death were his mother and father; grandfathers, Frank Laner and Clint Hatch Badback; and grandmother, Frances Wall.
