MARVIN R. MATHEWS Memorial services for Mancos resident, Marvin R. Mathews will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, 2005 at the Mancos High School Gymnasium. Rev. Bill Fair will be officiating. Visitation has been set for Thursday evening from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Marvin was born on April 16, 1939 in Moorewood, Okla. the son of Harmon Dale and Ada Lorene (Day) Mathews. He passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at the Southwest Memorial Hospital. He was 66 years old. Living in Mancos, Marvin was a proud Mancos booster. He gave of his time freely with various athletic events. He was a dedicated father and loved his grandchildren dearly. His family knew his to be “as consistent as the sunrise”. Surviving Marvin are his three sons, Randy Mathews of Cortez, Michael Mathews and wife, Susan of Cortez, and Alan Mathews and wife, Anna also of Cortez; and nine grandchildren, Hannah, Cutter, Brycen, Sienna, Amanda, Destiny, Rudy, Vance, and Ayden all of Cortez. Also surviving Marvin are his wife, Charlotte Mathews of Cortez; his parents, Harmon Dale and Ada Lorene Mathews of Cortez; three brothers, Doyle Mathews and wife, Jacky of Ordway, Colo., Darell Mathews and wife, Karen of Mancos, and Alan Mathews of Hesperia, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Harlene Mathews; and grandson Tyler Mathews.
