Martin Sanford 'Colorado' Bussard

Martin Sanford Bussard passed away on August 8, 2019 peacefully at his family’s home. He was 93 years old.
Martin was born on Squaw point in 1925 in a Log Cabin. He was the son of Ray Sanford Bussard and Esther Irene (Jones) Bussard. Martin had 3 siblings Jean Harlow (Bussard), Walter Ray Bussard and Rollins Lee Bussard. Martin had 4 Children, Martin Edward Bussard, Mary Ann Mithani (Mo), John Lee Bussard (Kathy) and Robert Samuel Bussard (Joy).
Martin started out farming on his homestead on Squaw Point. He Married Ruth Aileen Bangs and they moved to Grantsville Utah where he worked for Tooele Army Depot as a truck driver. Martin Loved horses and as time went on he traded in horseback riding for A 4-Wheeler. Martin rode his 4-wheeler until the age of 92. He loved being able to ride the trails on his family farm with his family. Martin was loved by all who knew him. He didn’t know a stranger. Martin made everyone he knew feel like part of his family. Martin spent winters in Arizona and summers in Colorado. He made many friends in Arizona who gave him the Nickname Colorado. He will be missed by many.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Esther Bussard, wife, Ruth Aileen Bussard, Brothers, Rollins and Walter Bussard.
Martins family will be having a Celebration of Life at the Bussard Family Farm on Squaw point on Sunday September 1, 2019. There will be a Potluck at 4:30. Address is 6196 CR R.1 (Squaw Point) Dove Creek, CO 81324. We would love for all who knew him to come.
