MARK FRANKLIN EVERETT Graveside services for former Mancos resident, Mark Franklin Everett will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 9 at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Funeral services will be held at Grandview 7th Ward Chapel in Provo, Utah at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8. Mark Everett died peacefully, of causes incident to old age, on Monday morning the 6th of March 2006 at his home in Provo, Utah. Mark Franklin Everett was born during a snowstorm December 26, 1914 on the Everett homestead north of Mancos, Colorado. He was the 6th child of Claude and Lillie Sellers Everett. He attended school in Mancos, graduating in 1933. He then attended Ft. Lewis College and then Colorado State University graduating with a degree in Forestry in 1938. Mark married his grade school sweetheart, Esther Willden, in 1941. Mark worked for the US Forest Service and the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) until he was drafted into the Army in 1942. He served as an officer in the Pacific Theatre during World War II and earned the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, American Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. After the war he worked for Chevron Oil Company for 30 years retiring in 1975.During those years the family lived in New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, and Utah. After retirement Mark and Esther served in the Calgary Alberta Mission. Mark enjoyed working in the Provo Temple and served in many leadership positions in the LDS Church. Hard work and service to others characterized his life. He was a wonderful man. It is an honor to be his son, daughter, grandchild, great grandchild, niece, nephew or friend! His parents, brothers and sisters and also his wife Esther precede him in death. He is survived by his children: Ruth Ann Jespersen (Earl) of Provo, Utah, Nancy Hugo (Charles) of Provo, Utah, Alice Covey (Wix) of Wausau, Wisconsin. Lyman Everett (Debra) of Virgin, Utah and Randy Everett (Ruth Ann) of Ft. Collins, Colorado—also by 24 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
