MARIAN EDITH SWANSON Funeral services for Cortez resident Marian Edith Swanson will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 29 at the Oakdale Memorial Park Chapel in Glendora, Calif. with interment to follow at Oakdale Memorial Park Cemetery. Marian was born on January 22, 1920 in Los Angeles, Calif. the daughter of Clarence Julius and Hilda (Newberg) Earle. She passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 88. On July 23, 1941, Marian and Wallace H. Swanson were wed in Yuma, Ariz. After 20 years of hard work, Marian retired from the United States Postal Service. The care and welfare of animals always held top priority in Marian's life. She enjoyed gardening and traveling, especially to go visit her children and grandchildren. Surviving Marian are her daughters, Carole L. Baldwin and husband, Gil of Dolores, and Linda A. Patrick and husband, Mike of Kingsport, Tenn.; her grandchildren, Eric Baldwin and wife, Judie of Albuquerque, N.M., Kim Mahnke and husband, Kevin of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Michelle Brooks and husband, Scott of Kingsport, Tenn.; her great-grandchildren, Lucas, Beth, and Logan of New Mexico, and Hannah, Scott Jr., and Wallace of Tennessee; her sister, Gloria Earle of Cortez; and her sister-in-law, Edna Swanson of Cortez. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Wallace Swanson. Memorial contributions may be made in Marian's name to the Parkinson's Association or to the American Humane Society.
