MARIA EMILIA "EMILY" GALLEGOS Funeral Mass for lifelong Cortez resident Maria Emilia "Emily" Gallegos will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 23 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Summit Ridge Cemetery. Father Pat Valdez, C.R. will officiate. Rosary service will be held on Sunday, January 22 at 4:30 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Emily was born May 18, 1940 in Mancos the daughter of Joe F. and Maria Feloniz (Lucero) Espinoza. She passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at her residence at the age of 76. Emily married Don Gallegos on December 6, 1958. She was a devoted member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. In her free time, Emily enjoyed crocheting and sewing. Surviving Emily are her children Felipe Gallegos of Cortez, Donna Vazquez of Huntsville, Tex., and Timothy Gallegos of Farmington, N.M.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and by her siblings, Don Espinoza of Fort Lupton, Colo., Maxine Switzer of Cortez and Kathleen Padilla of Cortez. Emily was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and by her siblings, Valois Espinoza, Virgil Espinoza and JoeAnn Mattson.
