MARIA BERSABE "CHAVELA" SENA Funeral Mass for Mancos resident Maria Bersabe "Chavela" Sena will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 25 at St. Rita Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. A Rosary has been scheduled for Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church. Chavela was born on June 1, 1926 in McPhee, Colo. the daughter of Patricio and Margarita (Archuleta) Velasquez. She passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at her residence at the age of 81. Chavela loved crossword puzzles and collecting pigs. She especially enjoyed family outings in the mountains and spending time with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving Chavela are her children, Loretta Anita Sena of Mancos, Jose S.R. Sena and wife, Ermelinda of Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Mary T. Sena of Mancos; and her siblings, Margaret Martinez of Dolores, and Kelly Velasquez of Dolores. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Chavela was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernesto Levi Sena; her sisters, Anna Martinez, Rebecca Velasco, and Lela Martinez; and her grandson, Alfonso Sena.
