MARGARET JEAN “PEGGY” AKIN Memorial services for lifelong area resident Margaret Jean “Peggy” Akin will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 8 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Reverend Bud Rousset will officiate. Peggy was born on August 21, 1921 in Dolores the daughter of William W. and Leota S. (Thompson) Dunlap. She passed away on Monday, December 3, 2007 at the Valley Inn Nursing Home at the age of 86. Surviving Peggy are her children, James Akin and wife, Janet, Paula Akin and Linda Walsh and husband, Tim, all of Durango; her grandchildren, Deborah Sue Bitonio, Vincent Akin, Chris McCargar, Matthew Duran, Sara Walsh, and Kevin Walsh; her great-grandchildren, Katie May Bitonio, Joel Bitonio, and Luke Bitonio; and her sister, Helen Dunlap of Durango. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Akin; her infant son, Robert Akin; and her siblings, Milton Dunlap, Pete Dunlap, and Velma Thompson.
