MARGARET ETHEL DIFFENDAFFER Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident Margaret Ethel Diffendaffer will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Pastor Paul Houston will officiate. Cremation will take place following the services. Margaret was born April 1, 1918 in Lebanon, Colo. the daughter of Percy M. and Ethel E. (Carmean) Chappell. She passed away at Madison House in Cortez on Friday, November 25, 2011 at the age of 93. Margaret loved collecting salt and pepper shakers and had an extensive collection. Margaret was a dedicated homemaker; enjoying time spent with family and cooking for them. She enjoyed, too, gardening and tending her flowers. Margaret was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. Surviving Margaret are three daughters, Joyce Marlene Schafer and husband, David of Grand Junction, Colo., Connie Jo Gray and husband, Lee Roy of Cortez and Debra Coleen Campbell and husband, Jim of Grand Junction, Colo.; by her step-children, Myrna Pendley and husband, Ray of Lone Oak, Tex. and Scott Diffendaffer and wife, Em of Casa Grande, Ariz.; and by eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Harold Scott Diffendaffer; and by all of her siblings, Junior Madison Chappell, Clifford Chappell, Oneita Banks, Catherine Stanley; Paul Chappell and Gladys Loyd Hauser. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Margaret Diffendaffer with Madison House.
