MARCIA M. DUKEMINIER Marcia M. Dukeminier passed away at Vista Grande Inn in Cortez on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the age of 78. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on November 10, 1931 the daughter of Solomon and Yetta (Levy) Gottlieb. On December 16, 1979 Marcia married John W. Dukeminier in Albuquerque, N.M. A truly amazing woman, Marcia brought her positive attitude and "never quit" spirit into her life and those around her. She suffered a devastating handicap when she lost her dominant hand. Overcoming that loss, Marcia found she could still continue to create the crafts that she loved. She enjoyed crocheting and needlework; she was very artistic. Marcia was courageous, heroic and an inspiration to her devoted husband, champion, companion and best friend. She was known as a great cook and was loved by all who knew her. Surviving Marcia are her husband of 30 years, John W. Dukeminier of Cortez; five daughters, Gail Stone and husband, Robert of Sylmar, Calif., Ann Palmer of St. Petersburg, Fla., Ellen Graham of St. Petersburg, Fla. Edith Randolph also of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Sherry Willis and husband, Todd of Cary, N.C.; by one son, John Michael Dukeminier and wife, Melinda, of Cortez; and by 15 grandchildren, Spencer, Ashley, Brandon, Matthew, Amanda, Rachel, Emily, James, Zachery, Gabriel, Clarissa, Benjamin, Zeke, Kelly and Emma Claire. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Marcia Dukeminier with Hospice of Montezuma, PO Box 740, Cortez. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
