VEDA MAY JOHNS PITT Graveside services for longtime Cortez resident, Veda May Johns Pitt will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 10 at Arriola Cemetery. Mae, as she was known by her family and friends, was born October 17, 1915 in Lincoln, N.M. the daughter of John Clarkston Johns and Viola (Keisling) Johns. She passed away at Vista Grande Inn on Friday, November 6, 2009 at the age of 94. Raised in the Arriola community, Mae completed the sixth grade there. She was married three times; first to Ralph Goodall of Lebanon, Colo., next to Jack Green of Cortez, and later to Ernie Pitt of Thermopolis, Wyo. Surviving Mae are her two children, Ray Goodall of Cortez and Charlene Smith also of Cortez; by ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; and by three sisters, Velma Kingery of Cortez, Daisy Mahaffey of Arriola, and Bessie Champion of Arkansas. Mae was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; and one sister, Mary Kinsley.
