MADGE LaVENTA ASHCROFT BRIMHALL Funeral services for longtime Naturita resident Madge LaVenta Ashcroft Brimhall will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 15 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church, M Road Chapel. Interment will follow at Kirtland Community Cemetery in Kirtland, N.M. Bishop Spencer Smith will officiate. A visitation has been scheduled for Saturday morning at the church starting at 11:00 a.m. Madge was born on December 19, 1911 in Ramah, N.M. the daughter of Rulon and Emma (Adair) Ashcroft. She passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at the Valley Inn Nursing Home at the age of 95. In 1930, Madge and Marion K. Brimhall were married. The couple shared 60+ years together. Madge and Marion were hardworking, faithful volunteers at L.D.S. temples in St. George, Utah and Manti, Utah. They helped to build and establish the temple in Tucumcari, N.M. Madge was a multi-talented woman. She spoke Navajo and was a member of various card clubs. Madge was happiest with her family and helping others. Surviving Madge are her daughter, Kay Crane of Naturita, Colo.; her brother, Herbert C. Ashcroft and wife, Jane of Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marion Brimhall; her children, Elaine Pinnell, and Charles M. Brimhall; and her siblings, Grace Bond, Blanche Garner, James Ashcroft, Alfred Ashcroft, and Wanda May Ashcroft. Memorial contributions may be made in Madge’s name to either the Nucla/Naturita Fire Department or to the Rico Fire Department.
