LUCY FAHRION A Mass will be held for longtime Rico resident Lucy Fahrion at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 9 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with the Very Reverend Joseph L. Gallegos officiating. Visitation has been scheduled for Thursday evening from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Lucy was born on December 7, 1909 in Dunton, Colo., the daughter of Pete and Lucia “Martha” (Fragno) Ferando. She passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at the Valley Inn Nursing Home at the age of 96. Lucy was known for her love of cooking Italian meals. She also enjoyed crocheting and quilting. For many years Lucy owned and operated the Enterprise Restaurant and Bar in Rico. Surviving Lucy are her son, Jim Fahrion and wife, Verna of Dolores; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; and one sister, Betty Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Fahrion in 1954; her son, Robert Fahrion; daughter-in-law, Diana Fahrion; and her siblings, Elmer “Swede” Ferando, Jim Ferando, Tony Ferando, Mary McClure, Pete Ferando, and Frances Ferando. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Lucy Ferando with the Rico Ambulance and Fire Fighters.
