Lucy Ellen Ault was born May 15, 1919 on the Ault ranch, five miles southwest of McCoy, Eagle, Colo., the daughter of Perry and Lelah Ethel (Smith) Ault. She passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2007 in her home at 25089 Road G, Cortez, Colo. at the age of 88. On August 13, 1938 she married Edgar LeRoy Law in Denver, Colo. which lasted for 68 years until his death six months ago. To that union were born five children who survive Lucy, Stephen LeRoy Law and wife, Donna Lee (Harris) Law of Cortez, Linda LuEllen Brady and husband, David Lyle Brady of Knabe, Utah, Darlene Doris Bawden and husband, Lyle Clell Bawden of White Rock, N.M., Merry Lelah Freestone and husband, David Ashton Freestone of Cortez and Dennis Claude Law and wife, Lory Ann (Graham) Law of Union, Ore. Lucy also has 30 grandchildren, and 44 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and by her siblings, Frank Andrew, Elizabeth, Dora Viola, Ethel May, Olive Vernie, Aletha Alice and Howard Perry. Lucy has been a very devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served full-time at the side of her husband, Ed, in the Tennessee Nashville Mission of The Church. She has served faithfully in many other teaching and leadership positions in The Church throughout her life. She has been a faithful companion to her husband throughout their experiences as she followed him in his work as a Deputy Sheriff in Utah, as a Sergeant in World War II, as a farmer on an Alaskan homestead, in his work as an electrical power plant operator, and odds and ends of other employment, moving from place to place to find work. She loved to dance, especially with her husband. Lucy was a kind, tender-hearted mother, whose greatest delight was in her family. She will be remembered and honored always by those who knew her.
