LUCILLE SUE GRAY Funeral services for Cortez resident, Lucille Sue "Lu" Gray will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 19 at Lifeway Baptist Church. Pastor Charles Story will officiate. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Friday afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Lu was born June 3, 1961 in Shiprock, N.M. the daughter of Frank Begay Sr. and Susan Rose (Clark) Begay. She passed away at her home in Cortez on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the age of 46. Lu loved to bead and weave. She was employed as a Paraprofessional in the Cortez Middle School and enjoyed sharing native pow wows with some of her Native American students. She also enjoyed time spent outdoors hiking. Surviving Lu are her mother, Susan Begay of Teec Nos Pos, Ariz.; by her siblings, Rose Begody of Gallup, N.M., Kenneth Begay of Window Rock, Ariz., Leonard Begay Sr., Caroline Begay, Frank Begay Jr., and Angelita S. Grant all of Red Mesa, Ariz., and Cassandra Rose Begay of Phoenix, Ariz.; by her mom and dad, Midge and Richard Bussing of Montrose, Colo.; and by siblings, Terrie Cheuvront of Little Rock, Ark., Mike Bussing of Montrose, Colo., Sharon Clayton of Johnstown, Colo., and Lisa Stauffer of Castle Rock, Colo. Lu was preceded in death by her father, Frank Begay Sr. in 1995; her twin sister, Lucinda Sue Begay in 1962; and her grandfather, Kitseally Baadaani.
