ELLEN LOUISE STRATTON KNOLL SANCKEN TOLLISON Memorial services for Cortez resident Ellen Louise Stratton Knoll Sancken Tollison will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 8 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Louise, as she was known to her family and friends, was born September 30, 1929 in Durango, Colo. the daughter of Albert Harold and Gertrude Anita (Fager) Stratton. She passed away at her Cortez home on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at the age of 81. During Louise’s working career she was employed by Denton Motors and Gabriel Chevrolet. In her free time she enjoyed square dancing and playing the piano. Louise was a wonderful seamstress and she made turquoise jewelry. She also enjoyed making pottery. Surviving Louise are her daughters, Kay Knoll Bannister and husband, Danny George Bannister of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Lynne Marie Knoll Fassler of Kingman, Ariz.; and her five grandchildren, Bobby Fassler, Cindy Spiva, Kelly Bannister, Daniel Bannister, and Austin Bannister. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Jaden Fassler, Skyler Fassler, Jordan Fassler, Samantha Spiva, Brandon Mendoza, Rachel Mendoza, Alissa Mendoza, Jenna Bannister, Noah Spiva, Bryce Spiva, and Katelyn Spiva; by her siblings, Lyle Albert “Bud” Stratton of Farmington, N.M. and Rita Jean Pulcher of Cortez; and by her former husband, Robert Knoll of Cortez. Louise was preceded in death by her parents; and by her husbands, Alva O. Sancken and Homer Tollison. Memorial contributions may be made in Louise Tollison’s name to the Lighthouse Baptist Church for scholarships.
