Louis C. Jumper Jr. passed away at home early on Thursday, December 31, 2020. He was born on January 18, 1933 in Marble City, Oklahoma to Louis and Mallie Jumper. He attended school in Oklahoma, and started teaching high school in 1959 in Tuba City, Arizona. He spent his career as a teacher, coach and administrator serving several schools on the Navajo Reservation, including Tuba City, Ganado, Kayenta, Pinon, and lastly as Planning Principal for the building of a new high school in White Cone. His greatest pleasure was working with kids. Toward the end of his career, he had his students come to him and tell him that their grandma remembered him as their favorite coach or teacher.
His parents, three sisters, a brother, and a grandson preceded Louis in death.
He will be missed by his wife, Sandra; children, Cheri (Greg) Gardenheir, Carrie (Dusty) Rhodes, Clay (Theresa) Jumper; grandchildren, Chris and Cory Meacham, Cami Bird, Bucky Rhodes, Shannon Wilson, Jarrett, Janae and Jaymee Jumper; great-grandchildren, Hadley, Jake, Trayson, Hayden, Wade and Jaxon Meacham, Gavin and Landon Bird, Briana and Tyler Rhodes, Collin and Riley Wilson, and Talyee Babers; his brother Jerry; several nieces and nephews, and many friends and "adopted" families.
Private services have been held, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
