LORRENA JONES Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident, Lorrena Jones will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 21 at the Cortez Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Empire Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. A visitation has been scheduled Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until service time at the LDS church. Lorrena was born on February 12, 1952 in VCA, Arizona the daughter of John Sisi and Lena (Adakai)Yazzie. She passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at the Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 53. Lorrena was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed being with her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Surviving Lorrena are her mother, Lena Yazzie of Cortez; her husband, Oliver Maze of Cortez; her children, Ernest Jones and wife, Sheyenne of St. Cloud, Minn., Corrine Blackhorse and husband, Mitchell, Marina Balderrama and husband, Rafael, Lita Maize, Olivia Maize, and Carmelita Maize all of Cortez; her grandchildren, Jolicia Balckhorse, Rachelle Blackhorse, Marlana Lopez, Nizhonnii Jones, Monique Lopez, Kiyaanii Jones, Manuela Lopez, Luis Fernando Balderrama, and Naataanii Jones. Her siblings, Delbert Yazzie of Denehotso, Ariz., Lorretta Hatathley of Moab, Utah, Priscilla Lopez, Gerald Yazzie both of Monticello, Utah, Evelyn Burke and Maria Yazzie both of Farmington, N.M. survive Lorrena. Preceding her in death were her father, John Sisi Yazzie; her first husband, Ernest Jones; and her brother, Albert Yazzie.
