On Monday February 10, 2020, Lorraine Naomi (Wickstrom) Guenther, 75, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away in Mesa, AZ.
Lorraine was born on September 30, 1944 in Grand Forks, ND, to Lewis and Nettie (Dahlum) Flatten. She grew up on a farm in rural East Grand Forks, MN, attended country school in her early years and high school in East Grand Forks. She went on to attend the University of North Dakota (UND) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1966. She moved to Colorado Springs, CO, to become a teacher, and met her first husband George Olaf Wickstrom. Lorraine and George were married on August 6, 1967; they were happily married for 46 years. Lorraine and George had two sons together, Scott and Craig. Lorraine and her family moved to Cortez, CO in 1976 and she resided in the Cortez community for the remainder of her life. In addition to teaching Lorraine was also a professional seamstress and eventually became an interior decorator. Lorraine and her husband owned and operated Bru’s House of Color, for 15 years, until she retired in 2000. Although Lorraine loved living in Cortez she also enjoyed ‘snow-birding’ in Gold Canyon, AZ. Lorraine met her second husband, Larry Guenther, in the Spring of 2019 and she was married to him later that same year, on July 25th. Although Lorraine was only married to Larry for a short time, she made the most of the time they had together, enjoying travel, their faith and many other common hobbies.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Scott (Molly) of Denver, CO and Craig (Angela) of Dolores, CO; 4 grandchildren, Ryley, Calvan, River and Marshal; 2 sisters, Estelle Halstengard of Fertile, MN, and Carlyne (Richard) Raymond of Walker, MN; and many special family members and caring friends.
