NORA LOIS WOOTEN Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident Nora Lois Wooten will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 7 at the Towaoc Recreation Center. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been scheduled for Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Towaoc Recreation Center. Lois was born on October 12, 1914 in Okemah, Okla. and she passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at her residence at the age of 95. On January 12, 1936, Lois married Marion Granvel Wooten. Lois had a big heart and she loved everyone. Her main joy in life was sharing and giving to others. In her free time, Lois enjoyed sewing, cooking, and canning. Surviving Lois are her children, T.J. Wooten of Cortez, Daryla Quintana-Ruiz of Tucson, Ariz., and Lora Sanchez of Cortez; and her grandchildren, Sheila Wooten-Jones, Sandra Wooten, Cedric Quintana, Isaac Sanchez and wife, Athena, and Rico Sanchez and wife, Sara. Lois also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Devan Jones, Motega Sanchez, and Maurice Nat; and her sister, Winnie Burson of Las Cruces, N.M. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, M.G. Wooten; by three brothers; and by two sisters.
