LOIS MAE BORRELLI Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident Lois Mae Borrelli will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 17 at the Cortez First United Methodist Church. Rev. Al Strauss will officiate. Lois was born on February 3, 1925 in Montrose, Colo. the daughter of Trefly Wilbur and Hazel (Roatcap) Rusho. She passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at the Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 82. On September 17, 1944, Lois married Delbert Edwin Borrelli in Denver, Colo. Lois and Del celebrated 63 loving years of marriage together. Lois received her teaching degree from Western State College. On July 1, 1957 the Borrelli family moved to Cortez. Lois brought her teaching credentials to the RE-1 School District becoming an English teacher in the Junior High. Her past students will well remember learning Casey At The Bat each fall around the time of the World Series and each spring Mrs. Borrelli’s students were challenged to recite The Daffodils in front of the class. Lois was a member of American University Women, Tri Sig Sorority, and the ladies Bridge Club. She loved to fish and was an avid reader, but mostly she enjoyed her time spent with her family and being involved with their activities. Surviving Lois are her beloved husband, Del Borrelli of Cortez; two daughters, Kathy Ann Borrelli of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Corby Sue Archierno and husband, Fredrick of Grand Junction, Colo.; two grandchildren, Alicia Marie Achierno of Albuquerque, N.M. and Jeffrey Scott Achierno of Grand Junction, Colo.; and by her brother, Bud Rusho and wife, Carole of Salt Lake City, Utah.
