LLOYD PERRY SMITH Memorial services for Cortez resident Lloyd Perry Smith will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 17 at the Cortez First United Methodist Church. Lloyd was born on January 23, 1925 in Ludlow, Okla., the son of William McCarren and Ruby Edna (Harwell) Smith. He passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at his residence at the age of 82. Lloyd and his wife, Pearl have called Cortez their home for the past 25 years. Lloyd worked as a cartographer for the United States Geological Survey from 1951 until 1980. His passion was topographic mapping which he did in ten states throughout his career. Lloyd and Pearl celebrated the 60th wedding anniversary on June 1, 2007. Surviving Lloyd are his loving wife, Pearl Smith of Cortez; his three children; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to Hospice of Montezuma, P.O. Box 740 Cortez, Colo. 81321.
