LEROY LEE SLEEPY Funeral services for lifelong Hatch, Utah resident, Leroy Lee Sleepy will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Leroy was born on March 15, 1926 in rural Aneth, Utah the son of Hosteen and Lola (Johnson) Sleepy. He passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2005 at the Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 79. Leroy was a rancher who ran both cattle and sheep. He enjoyed hunting, camping, saddle and bareback riding. He was also a Roadman for the Native American Church. Surviving Leroy were his wife of 60 years, Lucy Ben Sleepy of Hatch, Utah; his children, Hazel Blackhorse of Farmington, N.M., Daisy Thomas of Cortez, Luella Begay of Aneth, Utah, Bernice Eddie of Cortez, Alberta Sleepy of Hatch, Sandra Bennallie of Montezuma Creek, Utah, Virgil Sleepy, and Colonel Sleepy both of Hatch; his 22 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Susie Thomas of Cahone Mesa, Utah. Preceding him in death were his parents; and his children, Clarence Ben, Glenna Sleepy, Arthur Sleepy, and Harrison Sleepy.
