LEOVA GALLEGOS BRINKERHOFF Funeral Mass for lifelong Cortez resident Leova Gallegos Brinkerhoff will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 7 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Cortez. Interment will follow at Summit Ridge Cemetery. A Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Dolores. Leova was born on April 20, 1938 at Summit Ridge, Colo. the daughter of Jose Guillermo “Willie” and Filomena (Muniz) Gallegos. She passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at her residence at the age of 72. Leova attended school at East Lakeview. She was a devout Catholic and spent most of her life as a homemaker. Leova was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She opened her home to friends and family, treating them all the same. Leova spent some years in the home health industry as a C.N.A. Surviving Leova are her children, Rex Brinkerhoff and wife, Peggy of Cortez, Gino Brinkerhoff of Summit Ridge, Colo., and Raymie Scupski and husband, John of Dayton, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Christopher, Joseph, Megan and Nathan Scupski, and Kaylee Brinkerhoff. She also leaves behind her siblings, Marvine Lobato and husband, Pat of Denver, Colo., Martha Maez and husband, Bob of Summit Ridge, Colo., Margaret Cordova and husband, Tommy of San Francisco, Calif., Mary Alice Gonzales of Mancos, Eva Horne and husband, Gary of Summit Ridge, Colo., Linda Valencia and husband, Pete of Farmington, N.M., Tavy Gallegos of Farmington, N.M.; and her sisters-in-law, Emily Gallegos and Pat Gallegos. Leova was preceded in death by her parents; by her child, Valentino Brinkerhoff; by her siblings, Don Gallegos and William Gallegos; and by her in-laws, Joe Gonzales and Celia Gallegos.
