LEONARD ODELL CULVER Graveside inurnment services for longtime area resident Leonard Odell Culver will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 20 at Summit Ridge Cemetery. Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75 will provide military honors. A memorial service will follow at the Culver Family Farm at 3 p.m. Leonard was born on March 14, 1929 in Springer, N.M. the son of Lee Earl and Maggie Bell (Dryer) Culver. He passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at his home at the age of 80. On October 4, 1953, Leonard married Virginia Lou Magness in Farmington, N.M. Leonard was a proud member of the American Legion and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. A known "tinkerer," Leonard loved to work on clocks and any other project that came his way. Surviving Leonard are his wife, Virginia Culver of Mancos; his children, Diana Johnson and husband, Gordon of Bakersfield, Calif., Darwin Culver of Mancos, Vivian Culver and husband, David Harrison of Hyder, Alaska, Leslie Culver and wife, Toni of Midland, Tex., and Linda Leavell and husband, Gordon of Casa Grande, Ariz.; his grandchildren, Kerri, Karla, Glenda, Curtis, Dallas, and Dylan; by 12 great grandchildren; by his adopted little sister, Marianne Koskie; his brother-in-law, Floyd Hutchinson of Cortez; and by numerous extended family. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Ray Allison; by his sisters, Velma Hutchinson and Helen Jean Culver; and his brothers, Ken Culver and Lee Mack Culver. Memorial contributions may be made in Leonard's name to Hospice of Montezuma, P.O. Box 740, Cortez, Colo. 81321.
