Leonard Marvin Feit of blessed memory, 85, of Cortez CO passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 peacefully at his home. Leonard was born August 29th 1931 in New York, New York to Rachel and Max Feit. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1948, and attended Brooklyn College in 1956. As a youth he lived in the tenements where a multitude of Jews Italian and Irish immigrants intermingled. Leonard often swam in the East river NYC, bicycled to Coney Island eating at the originals Nathans hotdog, and won a medal for handball in Brooklyn (no small feat). After serving honorably in the U.S. Army and receiving the National Defense Service Medal and a good conduct medal during the Korean War years of 1952-54, he married Francis Ulin on January 14th 1956. Mr. Feit worked as a chemist in a multitude of labs eventually as a senior air pollution specialist eventually becoming a chemical consultant information specialist. He was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time with his three children and grandchildren, live, love, laugh and go to garage sales and give most of the chochkalas (small treasures) to loved ones, friends and strangers. Leonard was a dreamer of dreams, continually questioning life's questions and searching for those answers. He encouraged others to reach for the stars by deeds not words. He was a "Man of la Mancha", "To Dream the Impossible Dream". A man who inspired magical lives. Leonard (Mickey) was preceded in death by his wife Frances, his brother Alvin Feit, his mother Rachel (London) Feit, and his father Max Feit. Mr. Feit is survived by his three children, Alan Feit, Richard Feit and Roni Rohr, his two grandchildren Amy and Mathew Rohr, and son-in-law David Rohr. HE WAS THE BEST OF THE BEST. In lieu of flowers please be kind, gentle and laugh much.
