LEONA EVA LEWIS Funeral Mass for Leona Eva Lewis will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 4 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and a Rosary service will follow at 7 p.m. Leona was born the daughter of Henry and Isabelle (Bolz) Wecker on July 6, 1911 in Olpe, Kans. She passed away at Vista Grande Inn on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the age of 98. On August 10, 1931 Leona married Delmar Clarence Lewis in Olpe, Kans. They moved to the Cortez area in 1948. Leona was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and Southwest Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed needlework, embroidery and housework. She loved playing cards. Surviving Leona are her children, Carol Wethington of Cortez, Bernita Bradshaw of Lubbock, Texas, Leland Lewis of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Dianne Miller and husband, Steve of Grand Prairie, Texas; and by 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is survived by her only remaining sibling, Henrietta Renk of Farmington, N.M. Preceding Leona in death were her husband of 70 years, Delmar Lewis; her parents, Henry and Isabelle Wecker; and five brothers and seven sisters.
