LEANN HIGGINS Memorial services for lifelong Dolores resident LeAnn Higgins will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 9 at the Arriola Community Center. Pastor Neely Lewis will officiate. A reception will follow the memorial service at the community center. LeAnn was born on June 9, 1952 in Cortez the daughter of Russell A. and Donna Lea (Acott) Hindmarsh. She passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at her residence at the age of 55. On January 15, 1972, LeAnn married Danny Millard Higgins in Cortez. LeAnn was a very active woman. She was involved with the Cowbelles, she volunteered at the local health fair and she devoted 35 years of her life working at Dolores Medical. LeAnn loved animals. Whether she was riding horses or moving cattle, she was happy. LeAnn spent a great amount of time moving sheep with her father and grandfather. Her grandchildren came first; LeAnn was a wonderful, loving grandmother. Surviving LeAnn are her husband of 35 years, Danny Higgins of Dolores; her children, Heath Higgins and wife, Lori of Yellow Jacket, and Allen Higgins and wife, Amanda of Lewis; her mother, Donna Lea Beene of Cortez; and her grandchildren, Chase Herwick, Cutter, Ryder, and Makaya Higgins. Also surviving LeAnn are her siblings, Keith Hindmarsh and wife, Alesha of Cortez, Penny Vidakovich and husband, Lee of Peyton, Colo., Jodi Peters and husband, Shawn of Ukiah, Calif., Manda Guillette and husband, Mike of Mancos, and Brandon Sloan of Dolores; her step-mother, Ann Hindmarsh; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Millard and Joylene Higgins; her special aunt and uncle, Darlene and Don Gorbutt; her nephews, Bradly Apple, Dalton Hindmarsh, and Logan Hindmarsh; along with numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Hindmarsh; her twin sister, LuAnn Hindmarsh; a brother, Douglas Hindmarsh; and her step-father, Joe Beene. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of LeAnn Higgins with the Dolores State Bank.
