Lawrence Allyn Briggs, (Larry), was born on November 12, 1942, in Oakland, CA, the son of Allyn DeForest Briggs and Minnie Louise (Forester) Briggs.
Larry had been battling severe lung and heart disease for approximately the past two years. At the age of 82, he passed away peacefully in his home, in the early morning of Friday, November 22, 2024, with his beloved wife Terri, daughter Julie, granddaughter Kassi and his cousin Charlotte.
Larry was the eldest of four siblings, himself and three sisters, Leslie Susan Briggs, Denise Kay Briggs, and Glenna Carr Briggs. Larry was a very proud, hardworking, loving man of faith and with much gratitude. With most everything he did, he did it with a serious, stoic, very straight forward way with a strong set of values, and ethics, in addition to, having a soft, loving, kindred spirit, compassionate heart, and a way about him that could be so very magnetizing. He could also be very quick witted with his dry sense of humor and could have a flirtatious flare about him. He loved to tease when he got the chance and it seemed to always be at an impromptu moment, which he loved.
After high school, Larry made his career working alongside his father Al in the Pipe Fitters Industry Union. His love of gardening was just one of the things he loved to do. Everything he touched or created was amazing and beautiful! Truly a Master at his craft! He also loved the outdoors, camping and Jeeping back in his earlier years and loved being in the woods and in the mountains. He would go to beautiful lakes and streams and loved to fly fish. He enjoyed sports of all sorts. Especially football! He also has a love and interest for antiques, shopping, buying, and selling. Utmost, being with his family and his precious little Yorkies, Jax, King George, and Lucy!
After retirement, living in Dolores, CO, he went and worked as a gardener for private residencies in Telluride, CO and at Walmart in Cortez, CO, working in the garden department. Later he went into a new adventure to drive a school bus for the Dolores School District. He particularly loved taking the kids on their field trips, especially when they were sport related!
In 1989, Larry married Teresa Briggs, (Terri). Larry now has six children. Four boys and two girls. To include spouses or significant others.... Bryan, Lorne, Kenneth, daughter in-law Seana, daughter Julie, son in law Erik, Bob, daughter in law Michiele, and daughter Lena. He had 11 grandchildren: Joshua, Ashley, Kassi, Savannah, Bailey, Avery, Tim, Krystal, Josh, Darshina and Jessie, and 9 great grandchildren, Kael, Layla, Casey, Carter, Zac, Courtney, Liam, Nash, and Raquel.
In all, Larry felt so very blessed to have such an abundance of love in his life. To our beloved sibling, father, grandfather, great grandfather, rest in Peace... We love you!
