LAWRENCE ALFRED WALLINGTON Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident and physician, Lawrence Alfred Wallington will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 7 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Pastor Steve Schwarz will be officiating. Dr. Wallington was born on Nov. 9, 1917 in Toledo, Ohio the son of Walter Alfred and Louise Martha (Domerose) Wallington. He passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at his home in Cortez at the age of 86. On June 2, 1946 in Toledo, Ohio Lawrence married Myrtle Mae Lucas. He was a very active member of this community. Not only was Dr. Wallington a well respected physician, he was a member of the Rotary Club, Montezuma County Planning and Zoning Committee, and a former Lions Club member. Dr. Wallington was also a private pilot who loved to fly. He took 273 trips to Mexico for missionary work. His wife of 57 years, Myrtle Wallington of Cortez; his children, Lynn Alfred Wallington of Cortez, Mary Louise Flossman and husband, Gary of Stockton, Calif., Bradford Allen Wallington and wife, Darlene of Greeley, Colo., Samuel Arthur Wallington and wife, Sharon of Sacramento, Calif. survive Lawrence. He leaves five grandchildren, Jathan, Joel and wife, Gisele, Joshua, Nicole, and Becca. Preceding him in death were his parents. Arrangements are being handled through the Ertel Funeral Home.
