LAVINA ELLEN PULTS A Celebration of Life for longtime Cortez resident Lavina Ellen Pults will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 26 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Pastor Randall Hayes will officiate. A reception/potluck will be held at the Lewis Arriola Community Center following the service. The family asks that you join them. Please bring a covered dish to share. Lavina was born April 25, 1930 in Las Animas, Colo. the daughter of Benjamin B. and Gladys A. (Binam) Morgan. She passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango at the age of 83. Loving to take care of people, Lavina became a nurse. She loved to garden and can the vegetables she grew. Lavina loved all kinds of animals. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, and macram. Lavina is survived by her sons, James G. Pults and wife, Kelly of Lewisville, Minn. and Jeffery G. Pults of Yellow Jacket, Colo.; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren; brother, Stanley Morgan and wife, Mary of Torrington, Wyo.; sisters, Veta Foster of Canon City, Colo., and Arreda Hamilton and Mary Oliphant both of Brighton, Colo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Gladys Morgan; her first husband, Cornelius Smith; her second husband, J.G. Pults; her children, Rodney J. Smith and Gladys Marie Smith; and her sister, Thelma Knezevich. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
