ETTA LAVERNE CALHOUN Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident, Etta LaVerne Calhoun will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 6 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Road M Chapel. Bishop Vaughn Cook will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. A visitation has been scheduled before the service from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the Road M Chapel. LaVerne was born on September 28, 1932 in Cortez the daughter of Jeff Roger and Flora Belle (Spear) Odom. She passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 82. Surviving LaVerne are her husband, Clarence Calhoun of Cortez; her children, Florine Morrison and husband, Greg of Bayfield, Colo., William Roger Wilbur and wife, April of Eden, Wyo., Aileen Collom and husband, Al of Cortez, and Rhonda Cordova of Cortez; her step-children, Lori Winemiller of Durango, Colo., Sara Miller and husband, Don of Cortez, Jennifer Nichols of Phoenix, Ariz., Clarence Calhoun, Jr. "Clancy" and wife, Charlotte of Aztec, N.M., Susie Noack and husband, Tim of Durango, Colo., and Jackie Nelson of Bayfield, Colo.; 28 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and one on the way, and one great great grandchild on the way; her sister, Arlene Hespe of Texas; and her ex-sons-in-law, Bruce McCulley and Lee Cordova. Preceding her in death were her parents, Jeff Roger and Flora Belle Odom; her first husband, Bill Wilbur; daughter-in-law, Christy Wilbur; and her brother and sister, Robert Springfield and Marie Whiteley.
