LAURA LOUISE KENNEDY Graveside services for lifelong area resident Laura Louise Kennedy will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 5 at Fairview Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Montezuma Valley Presbyterian Church. Pastors Steve and Kim Nofel will officiate the services. Laura was born on December 18, 1929 in Mancos the daughter of Arthur R. and Eva (Rutherford) Hayes. She passed away on Friday, January 30, 2009 at Vista Grande Inn at the age of 79. On March 13, 1948, Laura married Claud Lee Kennedy. Laura was the overseer of the Fairview Cemetery for many years, taking great pride in making sure the cemetery was well cared for. In her free time, Laura enjoyed reading, stamp collecting, genealogy, gardening, and travel. Surviving Laura are her children, Karen L. Petit and husband, Fred of Pleasant View, and Robert L. Kennedy and wife, Debra of Yellow Jacket; her grandchildren, Jason Petit, Adam Kennedy and Ryan Kennedy; her sister, Dorothy G. Chaffin and husband, Jerry of Yellow Jacket; and numerous nieces and nephews. Laura was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Claud Kennedy in 1988. Memorial contributions may be made in Laura's memory to the Fairview Cemetery.
