LARRY EUGENE SMITH Memorial services for former Cortez resident Larry Eugene Smith will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19 at the Victory World Outreach Church. Pastor Jonathan Bland will officiate. The son of John R. and Mary Ann (Dennison) Smith, Larry was born on January 4, 1954 in Cortez. He passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2006 in Fresno, Calif. at the age of 52. Larry enjoyed all aspects of truck driving, having spent time working for Homestead, Crowleys, and D.L.B. Texas. In his spare time he liked to work on model trucks. Surviving Larry are his mother, Mary Ann Smith of Cortez; his daughters, Lari and Candice Smith both of Texas; his siblings, Bobby Smith and wife, Jackie of Hiawatha, Kan., Roger Smith, Ronnie Smith, and Donnie Smith all of Cortez, Steven Smith of Oklahoma, Sharon Norris of Anchorage, Alaska, Caron Salisbury and husband, Bill of Cortez, Leslie Decker of Denver, Colo., Cindy Mack and husband, Sam of Sun City, Calif., Penny Cadman and husband, Chee of Tucson, Ariz., and Connie Clark and husband, Buddy of Cortez; a special sister, Jo Waddoups and husband, Norman of Dove Creek; and 11 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John R. Smith.
