Kyle Brandon Galyon passed away on Friday August 24, 2018 at the age of 30. He leaves behind his beloved wife and soul mate Amy ReNay along with his energetic and affectionate little girls Kambria Jewel and Kwinn Louise.
Born February 12, 1988 to Kent and Cindy Galyon in Durango, Colorado. Kyle was such a good baby; Cindy always said “if she could have all boys she would have a baseball team … and then Chelsey was born.” Kyle was a lifelong resident of Cortez, Colorado. Kyle is lovingly remembered by not only his wife and daughters, but his parents, Kent and Cindy; sister and brother-in-law, Chelsey and Eric Lopez(Brylee and Brantley); Father and Mother-in-law, Skip and Trudi Adams; Brother and Sister in- laws, Jen & Sam Moffett(Ryin, Ty, and Bryker), Jessica Adams & Drew Glinn, and Corey Adams; Grandma and Grandpa Hamilton; Papa Galyon (Mac); and numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Kyle was preceded in death by his Granny (Ann Galyon).
In his early years, Kyle was always at the stock car track watching "Uncle Tim" race. From driving the blade with his dad to the water truck, he became comfortable with driving that he decided he could back the trailer into the driveway before his Dad got home. Believe it or not, he got it in there with only “minor” damage to the truck.
At age 12 Kyle discovered BMX. The Galyon family activities went from the stock car track to the BMX track. When Kyle started racing the closest track was in Aztec NM, thus that’s where evenings and weekends were spent. He was given the name "The Dominator" by his "second parents." After several years of driving back and forth and having many of Kyle’s friends join BMX racing, the parents banned together and built the BMX track in Cortez. This was not only a group of parents and friends but a family. There were no strangers that came to Cortez BMX. Kyle’s true passion for BMX racing became quickly evident as he started to race at national events. Kyle won multiple state and Redline Cup titles. The Dominator even finished 3rd in the World Cup. While racing at the Grands, Kyle crashed and broke his wrist. He pushed through two surgeries while continuing to find ways to ride and race. Kyle even broke his thumb while his arm was in a cast trying to heal. During all of this is when Kyle and Amy came together at the age of 14. Within the next year Kyle's edge for BMX began to fade.
Once Kyle got his driver's license, his fascination shifted to lifted jeeps and rock crawling. Weekend activities shifted from being on the track to trails in Moab. For many years the Galyon’s spent Easter weekend at the Jeep safari in Moab. They once all woke up to a foot of snow that was later melted in the 100 degree heat. Kyle drove many miles on the red rocks of Moab.
After almost a decade of Kyle and Amy dating, and Kent even getting down on one knee and proposing to Amy, Kyle finally got the courage to ask, and they got married on August 28, 2010. Kyle and Amy made many memories riding the RZR, camping in Moab, and just hanging out with friends at the “Dolores house.” Their lives changed with the birth of their daughters, Kambria Jewel in 2013 followed by Kwinn Louise in 2015. This also led to Kyle’s favorite and most important role, Mr. Mom. His girls were his world. Playtime was all the time and snacks were his forte. Amy actually had 3 kids she had to enforce bedtime for.
Kyle was a devoted husband, caring father, loving son and true friend to everyone he knew. He had a genuine giving nature. He would do anything to help someone in need whether he knew them or not. He always put others before himself.
Kyle is a child of his Heavenly Father. He was saved at the age of 10 and baptized by age 11 with his sister and mother. He practiced the biblical teaching of loving his neighbors and putting others before himself.
Kyle’s kind and giving heart will be forever missed.
