KERMIT LYNN WILBER The family of Kermit Wilber will be present at Ertel Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 7 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. They request the presence of Kermit's friends to share stories and memories of this beloved man, businessman and community member. Kermit was born April 17, 1927 in Cortez the son of Earl L. and Blanche Louise (Kirk) Wilber. He passed away at Vista Grande Inn on Thursday, January 1, 2009 at the age 81. Kermit and his wife, Willella, owned and operated Wilber Floral which at the time of its closing last year, Wilber Floral was the oldest Montezuma County business still operated by its original owner. For many years young and old would make a stop to gaze at the Christmas scene displayed in the large front windows during the holiday season. Kermit spent countless hours preparing the window. During the 1950s Kermit ran the projector for Gai Theaters in Cortez. Devoted to the well being and growth of the Cortez community, Kermit served on the Cortez City Council, as well as a member of numerous service organizations including Elks, Masons, Shriners, and 20/30 Club. Surviving Kermit are his beloved wife of 48 years, Willella (Partridge) Wilber of Cortez; his children, Lynn Wilber and Krista of Boulder, Colo., Bob Wilber and wife, Char of Denver, Colo., Gary Wilber and wife, Sheila of Mancos, and Rollin Wilber and wife, Cindy of Cortez; four grandchildren, Lara Wilber of Denver, Colo., Jessica Wilber of Boulder, Colo., Sandy Holladay and husband, Carl of Cortez, and Michael Wilber of Montrose, Colo.; and two great grandchildren, C.J. Wilber and Tiffany Holladay. Kermit was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother, Preston Wilber.
