Cahone, Colorado

On June 1st, 2024, Kent Barber Sr. was called home to heaven by The Good LORD. He was at home surrounded by his family when he passed. He was a life-long resident of Cahone, Colorado having lived there for almost 50 years.

Kent was born August 3rd, 1939, in Bakersfield, California where he resided until joining the United States Army in 1957. He was sent to Fort Hood for basic training and then shipped off to Germany as a tank operator. Kent served his country from 1957 to 1960 with honor and a duty to service.

Kent moved to Cortez, Colorado where he lived there for three years working as a carpet layer for Ed Bond, the owner of House of Carpets. He met and married Joyce Blaisdell, whom he has been married to for the last 54 years. Kent leaves behind his wife Joyce Barber and his four children; daughter Jeanette, eldest son Monty Barber and his wife Lisa, daughter Valena Greenwood and husband Stephen and youngest son Kent Barber Jr. and wife MaryBeth. Kent had a light that shined bright and was always seen by others as he held his friendships with others as an important part of his life. He was deeply loved by all.

2 Corinthians 5:8 – We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the LORD.
