KATHRYN MARY STORY Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident Kathryn Mary Story will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 24 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Goodman Point Cemetery. Kate was born June 25, 1922 in Cortez the daughter of Elwin J. and Elva Kathleen (Coppinger) Calhoon. She passed away at her home on Tuesday, August 18, 2015. Kate was 93 years old. On June 30, 1940 in Monticello, Utah, Kate married Olney Theron Story. She was a member of Altrusa Home Demonstration Club and Montelores Baptist Church. Kate loved to dance and square dance. She also enjoyed cooking; so much so that she taught cooking for 4-H, in the school cafeterias, and at the Ponderosa Restaurant in Dolores. Surviving Kate are her children, Roxann Greiner and husband, Lee of Albuquerque, N.M., Jean Leonard and husband, Chet of Lewis, Kay Williams and husband, Glenn of Cortez, and Errol Story and wife, Barbara of West Richland, Wash.; and by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Theron Story; and her siblings, Marjory Smith and Ed Calhoon.
