Kathryn Florence Sutherland

KATHRYN FLORENCE SUTHERLAND Kathryn Sutherland (98), born December 14th, 1908, passed away March 17th, 2007 in Cortez Colorado. Formerly of Fort Collins Colorado and Saratoga Wyoming, Kathryn was a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Jan Heyl and husband Robert of Mancos, Colorado; granddaughters Keena Metcalf (husband Ken) of Denver; Aneka Jensen (husband Mike) of Fort Collins and great granddaughter Halle Kathryn Metcalf (of Denver). She is also survived by sister Fern Carpenter of Boise, Idaho. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband Wyle Sutherland; her parents Carl and Maude Willford and older brother Harold Willford of Saratoga Wyoming, sister Eileen Millard of Yakima Washington and sister Phyllis Hemmingway of Santa Monica California. Kathryn and Wyle were married May 17, 1931 at her family’s home in Saratoga Wyoming. Kathryn enjoyed telling stories of her pioneer ancestors, playing and teaching the piano, and raising flowers. She especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren. During her 55 year residence as a farm wife in the Fort Collins area she was an active member of the Timnath Presbyterian Church, the Observatory Ladies Club, the Laporte Green Thumb Garden Club and the National Guild of Piano Teachers. Her family was blessed by her unconditional love and support. A graveside service will be held March 27th at 11:00 at the Grandview Cemetary in Fort Collins.
