KATHLEEN ROSE MACSHANE “KATE” HUDSON Memorial Mass for Cortez resident Kathleen Rose MacShane “Kate” Hudson will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 25 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Kate was born on February 11, 1927 in Hammond, Ind. the daughter of James Henry and Mary Ann (English) MacShane. She passed away on Monday, January 18, 2010 at Aspen Gardens Assisted Living at the age of 82. Kate attended Catholic Central High School in Hammond, Ind. and then went on to St. Francis College in Joliet, Ill. where she received her Bachelor’s degree. Furthering her education, Kate obtained her Master’s degree from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. On June 16, 1950, Kate married Frank P. Hudson in Hammond, Ind. A devoted member of the Catholic faith, Kate belonged to Catholic Daughters, Friends of the Holy Land Benedictine Oblate, Amigos de las Americas, and Birthright. In Cortez, she attended St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. In her free time Kate enjoyed needlework, sewing, and traveling. Some of her favorite memories came from trips to Europe, Mexico, Ireland, and a cruise to Hawaii. Surviving Kate are her children, Anne Jessup and husband, Dan of Cortez, Brendan Hudson and wife, Christina of Cancun, Mexico, and James Hudson of Roswell, N.M.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Patrice Austgen of Hammond, Ind., Joseph Henry MacShane and wife, Helen of Munster, Ind., and John Paul MacShane and wife, Mornette of Westminster, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Frank P. Hudson; by her son, Christopher Hudson; and by her siblings, Mary Agnes Dixon, and James English MacShane. Memorial contributions may be made in Kate’s memory to the Alzheimer Organization at alz.org.
