Kathleen Elizabeth "Katie" Groth

KATHLEEN ELIZABETH "KATIE" GROTH Kathleen Elizabeth "Katie" Groth was born on September 25, 1949 in Palm Springs, Calif. the daughter of Frank Joseph and Jacqueline Elizabeth (Halff) Smith. She passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at her Cortez residence at the age of 59. On September 25, 1982, Katie married John Walter Groth in Las Vegas, Nev. Katie and John shared 26 years of marriage. An exotic bird breeder, Katie loved many different birds. She had a wonderful doll collection and Katie was proud of her Rockwell plates. Surviving Katie are her loving husband, John Groth of Cortez; her mother, Jackie Stakias and husband, Michael of Phoenix, Ariz.; her children, Jason M. Groth and wife, Michele of Norfolk, Va., Owen J. Smith of Michigan, and Leslie E. Talavera and husband, Henry of San Diego, Calif.; three grandchildren; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Char and John Groth of Chino Hills, Calif. Katie was preceded in death by her father. In fulfilling Katie's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
