KATHLEEN DEE GAFFORD A gathering of family and friends celebrating the life of Kathleen Dee Gafford will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 20 at the large gazebo at Centennial Park. Kathleen was born May 1, 1957 in LaMesa, Calif. the daughter of Buster Dixon and Rozina Jane (Hartley) Gafford. She passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at her Cortez residence at the age of 56. Kathleen was a talented musician and played numerous instruments. She loved listening to music, most especially cello and guitar. She appreciated art, watercolors, rock art and sculpting with clay. Surviving Kathleen are her mother, Jeannie Gafford Villers of Cortez; her children, Jeremy Lee Rucker and Phillip Dixon Rucker and wife, Rebecca; five grandchildren; her siblings, Sandra Lamb and husband, Carl of Mancos, and Robert Gafford of Cortez; her lifelong friend, Webb Gray of Cortez; and her dog, Sho Sho. Kathleen was preceded in death by her father; by her husband, Richard George Rucker. Cremation has taken place and services are pending. Memorial contributions can be made in Kathleen Gafford's name to Locks of Love, an agency that Kathleen donated to prior to her passing.
