Katherina "Kayde" Amalia Klemencic-Smith

A funeral mass for longtime Cortez resident Katherina “Kayde” Amalia Klemencic-Smith will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 26, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Dolores, CO. Father Soosai will officiate. There will be a memorial rosary at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 25 at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Cortez.

Kayde was born October 4, 1949 in Scobey, Montana, the daughter of Russell Richard and Antonia Giavonna (Krapez) Smith. She passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at the age of 72.

Surviving Kayde are her sons Kolby A. Shields of Franklinton, NC and Richard L. Shields of Westminster, CO; her brother Michael L. Smith of Vail, CO; her sisters Sonya G. Yazzie of Tucson, AZ, Thomasina Neely of Dolores, CO, Rodana Smith of Cortez, CO, and Michelle Smith of Manhattan, NY; and two grandchildren. Kayde is preceded in death by her parents.
