KARLENE BOWERS TABOR MCCARTY Funeral services for former area resident and current West Point, Calif. resident Karlene Bowers Tabor McCarty will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 11 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Ertel Chapel. Karlene was born on March 4, 1938 in Oklahoma the daughter of Karl and Bertha Bowers. She passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at her residence at the age of 72. Karlene was very active in the Gillette, Wyo. community. She was on the board of directors for the Council of Community Services, she volunteered at the senior center and hospital, and Karlene was a member of West Side Baptist Church. Karlene attended and graduated from high school in Cortez. She was a tax accountant by trade and Karlene loved traveling with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed finding treasures at yard sales and garage sales. Surviving Karlene are her husband, Pat McCarty of West Point, Calif.; her children, Marvin Tabor and wife, Terri of Gillette, Wyo., and Lynne Chastain of Gillette, Wyo.; her grandchildren, Ernie Chastain, Bobby Chastain, Christopher Tabor, Corey Tabor, Joshua Tabor, Kaylie Tabor, and Jonae Tabor; and her great-grandchild, Korbin Tabor. There is another great-grandchild on the way. Karlene was preceded in death by her parents; by her son, Burl Tabor Jr.; and by her siblings, Darla Bowers and Dewayne Bowers.
