Karen Ann Smith Gish

KAREN ANN SMITH GISH Funeral services for Karen Ann Smith Gish will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 6 at the Lighthouse Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Summit Ridge Cemetery. Karen was born June 14, 1947 in Ames, Iowa the daughter of Clyde Burdette and Helen Rae (Daley) Smith. She passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2007 at the age of 60. On June 1, 2001 in Scottsdale, Ariz., Karen married Dale Winston Gish Jr. The couple moved to the Cortez area four years ago. A very friendly and outgoing person, Karen never knew a stranger. She loved time spent outdoors and gardening and she had a true fondness of animals. Surviving Karen are her father, Clyde Smith of San Antonio, Texas; her children, Steve Barkdoll and wife, Patty of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Kristina Ricca and husband, Monte of Cortez; six grandchildren, Hollie Hanson, Matthew Barkdoll and Max Barkdoll all of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Jordan Ricca, Joshua Ricca and Madison Ricca all of Cortez; and two sisters, Linda Barkdoll and husband, Phil of Vinton, Iowa and Sandy Sojka and husband, Gary of Pennsylvania. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Karen Gish with the Lighthouse Baptist Church to benefit the Christian Academy.
