Junior Ray Turman

JUNIOR RAY TURMAN Graveside inurnment services for lifelong Cortez resident, Junior Ray Turman will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 18 at the Cahone Cemetery. Born one of eight children to Newton Izar and Georgia Dalton (Avery) Turman, Junior was born on April 9, 1932 in Hartshorne, Okla. He lived his life enjoying music and traveling. Junior was also very fond of children. He passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014 at the Vista Grande Inn in Cortez at the age of 82. Surviving Junior are his longtime friend, Sylvia Nelson of Alamosa, Colo.; his siblings, Clara Sanchez of Grand Junction, Colo., Billie Floyd of Dolores, Colo., Tom Turman and wife, Vivian of Tucson, Ariz., and Kay Roderick and husband, Chuck of Fruitland, N.M. Preceding him in death were his parents, Newton and Georgia Turman; his son, Butch Turman; and three siblings, Bob Turman, Wanda Ripee and Margie Turman.
